Rie Tashiro is a choreographer, dancer, and dance educator who has presented her work at various dance

festivals and residencies in Japan and internationally. Influenced by street culture, she began dancing and has

developed her own choreographic language, placing importance on an affinity with music and intuitive

expression while exploring the relationships between bodily perception, gravity, memory, traces, and space. She

is currently based in Tokyo and has been expanding her artistic and research activities to Europe, includingBerlin.

Rather than simply reproducing established movement systems, she values exploring the movements and forms

of beauty that can emerge from the relationship between body, place, and culture, using as a starting point her

own bodily experience and everyday bodily sensations shaped in Japan, and paying attention to what her body

feels and discovers through its relationship with the environment. She has also been deeply engaged in dance

education, where she similarly focuses on movements emerging from cultural backgrounds and emphasizes

awareness of the body, perception, improvisation, and creative exploration through movement. In addition to

choreography and performance, she has worked across disciplines including visual media, stage productions,and fashion.

Through encountering her body in different places and cultures, she continues to question and reconsider her

own bodily experience, exploring new forms of dance in the contemporary world and the possibilities of a bodythat does not yet exist.

ダンサー・振付師。ストリートカルチャーに影響を受けダンスを始め、コンテンポラリージャズダンスをベースとした独自の創作スタイルを築き上げてきた。情熱的で、キレのある振付が特徴であり、音楽との親和性や直感的に伝わる表現に重きを置き振付・舞台作品を創作している。これまでに国内・外の様々なダンスフェスティバル・レジデンスに召喚され作品を発表してきた。また自身のダンス作品の創作以外にも舞台、ファッションショー、CM、映像演出からティーチングなどジャンルを横断し活動している。
