【Rie Tashiro/AYATORI】

Dancer, Choreographer.

RIe has been influenced by street culture and it led her to start dancing. She was chosen for Yokohama Dance Collection EX 2015 competition I finalist and Japan/Korea collaborative dance creation: she collaborate with Kim Jiuk and their piece was shown in Seoul performing artes festival and Yokohama Dance Collection. Also, she was invited to international dance festivals such as Seoul international improvisation festival and International Society on ElectricArts. In 2016, she established her collaborative performance project  AYATORI during her residence in Steep Slope Studio. She was selected to artist support programme organised by studio Architanz in 2017 and performed her new piece “The shore of the body” next year. She approaches dance not only from performance but also from academic research; she got master degree in Meiji University, Liberal arts design faculty  and wrote her thesis about the educational value of contact improvisation for children with down syndrome in 2011.
